Whisky 101: A Guided Tasting at Solera - 1 August 2026

Join us for Whisky 101 — a relaxed, beginner-friendly guided tasting designed to introduce you to the wonderful world of whisky.

This evening is all about discovery. We’ll explore different styles from around the globe, showing how whisky varies dramatically depending on where and how it’s made. Whether you’re completely new to whisky or looking to build your knowledge, this is the perfect starting point.

Our curated flight will feature six expressive whiskies representing a broad range of styles and regions:

• Boplaas Whisky 6 Year Old (South Africa)

• Woodford Reserve (USA)

• Douglas Laing’s Rock Island (Scotland – Island Blend)

• Glendalough Irish Oak (Ireland)

• Paul John Brilliance (India)

• Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt (Japan)

No prior experience is needed. Our host will guide you step-by-step through tasting techniques, how to nose and sip properly, and what makes each whisky unique. You’ll leave with a much clearer understanding of the diversity of flavors whisky can offer — from sweet and approachable to bold and smoky.
